OUR STORY

How we started

 

Hi, my name is Makayla Cook, I am 13 and I have a passion for baking. I started baking when my dad was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer.  I was 10 years old and my little brother and sister were 8 and 3.  We are trying to take care of my dad but it is getting tougher and tougher every day and hope is all I have.  I wanted to help out but what could I do?  I thought of what made my dad happy.  My dad loved it when I would bake him cookies.  He loves my Chocolate Chip Cookies.  When I started to bake for my dad I feel like I am helping him and that was helping me.  I love to bake, this helps me feel like I am making a difference.  My dad always says "Be Brave When You Are Afraid".  Now instead of just baking cookies for my dad I have a mission of baking cookies and raising money for a cure.  I have seen so many friends and relatives that are affected by cancer.  I can make a difference!!  We all can make a difference!!
